by jody on Jan.28, 2009, under Wall Art
Patchwork Tapestry Fabric, cloth fragments
17”x9.5” Patchwork Tapestry. Hand-sewn three dimensional fabric collage depicting Noah’s Ark.
The term “arpillera” means a rough, course fabric. It derives from an old Chilean tradition of using old remnants of fabric to make hand-sewn appliqués. These patchwork tapestries are made by a co-op of women in Peru and they tell stories of life. This one shows Noah’s Ark. Variations in color and textures are natural to this item and make it unique. Hanger not included.

Byron Mckeown-Sedona, AZ
1.5”x1.5” Sterling Silver Isle of Skye, Scotland
Byron Mckeown designed the Celtic heart. It was inspired by an early Celtic folk tale that tells of two young lovers. They lived in the village of Dunan on the Isle of Skye. On their wedding day the groom went with his kin to fish Raasay Sound. The weather turned, he drowned. His bride was so overcome with grief she died the very next day of sorrow. They were buried side by side in the Kirk yard. The next Spring a vine grew from each grave these vines climbed the wall until they tied themselves into a true lover’s knot in the shape of a heart. The Celtic heart is available in two pendant sizes, the smaller as earrings, and a bracelet made from the smaller.
