Tana Acton Cuff
by jody on Apr.19, 2009, under Bracelet, Jewelry
7/8 “ Wide Handmade silver or gold-filled wired-wrapped cuff.
Tana Acton is from Santa Fe, New Mexico and her intricate gem, bead, and wire-wrapped forms take the art of jewelry making in a direction all her own. Tana brings the wealth of artistic influences and a life-long pursuit of the creative to her jewelry. She utilizes textile technology in wrapping silver or gold-filled wire over a sculptural framework, sometimes incorporating moving gemstones, beads, or pearls in her jewelry. The movement, air and light are used to create pieces that are at once delicate, yet solid, organic yet sharply contemporary. Her work is adjustable making each piece a perfect fit.

Alex Sepkus
18K rose gold with 14 diamonds = 0.20 cttw size 7 1/4
Hand made in New York City
The dearth of raw material in his native Lithuania compelled Alex Sepkus to make very small pieces, often working under a microscope. He developed a style that was half painting and half sculpture. He often included inscriptions in miniature. The results, he remembers, might better have been called “tiny, wearable art” than jewelry in any conventional sense of the term. His pieces are unexpectedly stunning, vibrant and invite the wearer to enter the mind of the artist.
