Earth Candle

“Carma”
5” x 4.5” (approx.) Red Rock Clay

A great holiday gift idea from Red Rock Candle & Gift. Red Rock Clay Oil Lamp handcrafted from the red clay of Sedona. Each oil lamp is a one-of-a-kind treasure inspired by the landscapes of the Southwest.  Carma developed her own style & technique (unique to her alone.)  She throws each piece on an electric wheel and then sculpts and designs her abstract and floral appliqués.   She is renowned for working with non-glazed raw clay.  Each lamp can be burned all day long 365 days a year without damage to the lamp or its fiberglass wick.   (The wick does not consume, it just wicks up the lamp oil.)  Since no two lamps are identical, let us pick out a special one just for you.

“Jeeves”

“Jeeves”

 Mary Dewey
Hand-built clay figure, Raku fired
12” high, 11” wide, 3” deep

A great holiday gift idea from Inner Eye Gallery. Mary Dewey, a nationally recognized ceramic artist, was raised in southern Florida and studied art at the Cleveland Institute of Art.  She opened a studio in Ohio in the early 70’s and taught ceramics and sculpture at Muskingum College.  She eventually moved to the foothills of the Appalachians and built her house and studio in the woods, a mile from the nearest road, with no utilites or running water, where she began to work in simplicity and earnest.  One day she was adopted by a special cat who came marching through the woods on the day of the first firing of her new kiln.  It is tradition among potters that a new kiln have a kiln god and so the cat was named “Kaygee”, which is short for “kiln god”, and from thereafter she was inspired to to make cat designs.  Although Mary’s house and studio have moved and now have become civilized, complete with utilities and even a flush toilet, she still finds peace and inspiration in the woods and hills of southeastern Ohio.  This cat was named by our Gallery.
