Arizona artist Alex Cavendish gets his inspiration from the local burls he finds.  Burls are knots formed at the base of many trees and shrubs.  Their eccentric grain patterns, cracks and odd shapes are incorporated into each unique piece.  Alex hand-turns each vase on a lathe, then hand rubs it with tung oil to accentuate the grain and natural color.
