Soldier’s Rosary or Decade Ring

A great holiday gift idea from Isadora. The decade ring has ten knobs and was intended to be used as a rosary. An”Ave” was said for each of the knobs and an “Our Father” for the bezel( center of the ring). They were often used during periods of Catholic persecution, and are also know as the soldiers rosaries because they were often taken into battle, most notably during WWI. This cross comes with a historical information card. A collection of crosses created by Byron and Deanne McKeown, created from their historical research on crosses and rosaries worldwide. Cast in sterling silver, gold, vermeil, semi-precious and precious stones, these designs are exclusive to the McKeown Galleries.

The dearth of raw material in his native Lithuania compelled Alex Sepkus to make very small pieces, often working under a microscope. He developed a style that was half painting and half sculpture. He often included inscriptions in miniature. The results, he remembers, might better have been called “tiny, wearable art” than jewelry in any conventional sense of the term. His pieces are unexpectedly stunning, vibrant and invite the wearer to enter the mind of the artist.
